Hyperbaric Oxygen: Chamber Guide.
Pre-Session Guidelines
• Consultation: Ensure you’ve had a consultation with one of your specialists or GP prior to using the chamber. Certain medical conditions may require approval from a physician.
• Clothing: Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid synthetic fibers, as they may cause static electricity. Cotton is recommended.
• No Metal: Remove all metallic objects (watches, jewellery, belts with metal buckles) before entering the chamber.
• Food and Drink: Avoid consuming large meals, caffeine, or alcohol 2 hours before the session.
• Hydration: Stay well-hydrated before your session but avoid drinking too much immediately prior to entry.
Before Entering the Chamber
• Restroom: Use the restroom beforehand, as the session lasts up to 60 - 90minutes.
• Medical Devices: Inform the staff if you use any medical devices (pacemakers, insulin pumps, etc.), as they may need special consideration.
• Ear Pressure Adjustment: If you have trouble equalising pressure in your ears. Pinch your nostrils closed, take a breath, keep your mouth shut, and gently blow air out your nose until you feel a "pop" or the pressure releases, practice gentle yawning or swallowing techniques before starting the session. Nasal spray can be used if you have sinus issues.
Safety Guidelines
• Refrain from smoking or using any flammable products before or after the session.
• Do not block any valves inside the chamber while in use.
• If you are pregnant, please consult your physician before using the chamber.
• When using the device for the first time, there may be slight discomfort or pain in your ears similar to what you experience during an airplane take off. Swallowing, yawning, or pinching nose and clearing airways can help relieve pressure.
In a event of an Emergency, you will be instructed not to hold breath and then a rapid decompression will follow, this will take no more than 10 seconds.
Our Mild- Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers (MHBOT) offers therapeutic benefits, promoting faster healing, improved circulation, and enhanced recovery.
Oxygen is an element that is vital to every cell in our bodies. However, as we age and as our environment becomes more polluted, our bodies are becoming deficient in the essential nutrients. Unlike other elements, we cannot supplement oxygen in our bodies by taking a pill or even changing our diet.
At normal air pressure, our oxygen carrying cells (red blood cells) are saturated and therefore cannot carry any more oxygen that may be introduced into our bodies.
During hyperbaric therapy, the body is gently placed under pressure, creating an environment where oxygen can dissolve directly into blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids, thereby increasing oxygen levels in the cells dramatically triggering a far greater production of energy.
This increased production of energy can help support the body’s coping mechanism with the effects of aging, stress, and other conditions that can leave us feeling less than 100%.
